Less Critics and More Fans
It’s not that hard to shift a mindset (if you try)
I want all my friends, family members and people in my community (and far beyond) to do well. I want all the boats around me to float. And you probably do too if you’re a decent enough humanoid.
But a lot of people have a hard time with that and could care less about anyone who doesn’t share their last name, or skin color, religious belief or political leaning. What if we removed judgment? Because, ultimately, it’s not productive in any way.
I think the following is a fact about our existence.
I (we) aren’t here to judge. We’re here to help, support, encourage. Everyone. Even if we don’t know the people we see everyday, we can still have a fan’s mindset, rooting for folks around us, no matter who they are, to do well, improve, find happiness.
This feels easy, and like something everyone can do with joy — because we’re all on the same team. It shouldn’t be hard.
But it is hard. For a number of unhelpful reasons. A person’s pride, ego, tradition, general temperament, environment and so on.
